The Autuer Theory - Hype Williams

The Autuer Theory - Hype Williams

The autuer theory was developed in the 1950's and it states that a directors  film reflects the director's personal creative vision.

The auteur brings something personal and unique to each of the videos they produce. This shows that the director has their own creative vision which you can recognize straight away.

Hype Williams

Hype Williams is an exaple of this theory,
he is American music video and film director.
Williams has created a number of music
videos for many artists, including 2Pac,
The Notorious B.I.G, LL Cool J, Nas,
Missy Elliott , Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Kanye
 West, Aaliyah, Christina Aguilera, Coldplay,
Ne-Yo and many, many more. All these genres
are the same as the are all either pop or R&B songs.

A "signature style" involves placing shots in regular widescreen ratio, while a second shot is split and placed in the upper and lower bars. Creating a "banner" look.
In addition to this, he frequently utilizes aerial and tracking shots which often move backwards or forwards, some techniques. It is a method often used by Hype which allows his videos to be dynamic,
multidimensional and atmospheric as opposed to having static camera angles. An example of this is 'gold digger' by Kayne west.

Lyrics

Never Made Time

VERSE 1
Unexpected not what you thought
Didn't match the description you had in your mind
While I'm done playing your games i dont argue with your rules
Im no longer in your hands I'm no longer your fool

CHORUS
And you took me by the hand
And you let me down to a place that i was never suppose to go
How could the beauty thats yours leave scars to sting
Well open my eyes and apologies
And let me go

VERSE 2
Im not afraid of the darkest place
But what i fear most is that your forget my face
Well i know you lack commitment from the start
But missing you is the hardest part

CHORUS
And you took me by the hand
And you let me down to a place that i was never supost to go
How could the beauty thats yours
Leave scars to sting
Well open my eyes and apologies
And let me go

VERSE 3
Well you said you barley knew me
But you never made time x3
                                             to see me

Well you said you barley knew me

But you never made time x3
                                             to see me

Target Audience

My music video is targeted at the younger generation, both male and female aged from 13 upwards, but mainly females aged 18-25. The genre for my music video is indie pop, so its played in the charts, so is available to everyone to listen to.

Ed Sheeran's style of music is Pop, Indie Pop, Electro Pop. The genre of music suggests that countless fans will be into Pop and Indie music which helps me narrow down my research to these types of music magazines. From looking at the music magazines it helps you gain knowledge about what type of people read them, this really helps to get a true understanding of who the target audience is.

After texting anyone and everyone and doing numerous posts on Facebook and tweets on twitter to find a  unsigned artist, I managed to have some luck, as my friends chosen artist, also allowed me to use another song of his. His name is Chris Johnston and I looked at his songs through his personal Soundcloud account, from there I was able to pick a song I liked.

After having a look through all his tracks, I came across 'Never made time'. I really liked this peace of music as I felt that people of today could really relate to this track as the lyrics rely meant something. I also felt that I would be able to produce a music video for this song as I already had some ideas coming to mind.

So my friend texted Chris, to see whether I was able to use him or not. Chris said it would be fine! Then I started to think about creating my music video. I have been keeping contact with Chris going over some ideas and touching upon what he would like to see come out of this experience.
