filming update&solutions

Filming update

Due to my artist being away at uni, I have had trouble filling his role, this has set me back a week in my filming. to solve this i have now found a boy that matches the artists appearance and style, so i am hoping it will be a successful shot.
I managed to find a couple to film to get the narrative across, they have unfortunately just broken up, so i am unable to use them also.
i have found a solution to solve my problem, i am now using a different couple to film and i am able to film them this sunday

Lip syncing induction

Lip syncing

Definition; (of an actor or singer) move the lips silently in synchronization with a pre-recorded soundtrack.

lip syncing is an important aspect of our music video as, the visuals have to match the audio. You need to be able to see the singer singing in time with the audio placed on top of the music video, without the lip syncing the music video is incomplete.

its an important skill to have as you can apply it to media in many cases as it allows you to pre record and then add sound effects or other peoples voices into the scene, for example if an actor cant do an accent, you can record someone else doing it, and then add it in when editing your work.
It also helps music videos more realistic as the audience will become more engaged as they will think the singer is singing to them.

To help me learn how to lip sync we practiced on a track called 'i wanna know' which had a visual track and a pre recorded audio track, i then linked the two together using final cut express and moved around the visual track to fit in with the pre recorded audio track. I done this by looking at the wave forms and matching them together. I also used markers to identify where specific moments of the audio track came in with the visual track.

Prop/ styling list

When filming my music video, the props involved
were a 'love note' which my artist used to show
his heart ache.

Male Artist styling list; chinos, jumper, shirt and boat shoes, this was to create an indie feel. which shows a connection with the indie pop genre.

Ed Sheeran is a good example as he wears similar clothing to my artist.

Filming prep

Locations;
1) train station; Anya walking into train station
Shots used; establishing shot of train station, close up on Oyster card, mid/wide shot of inside of carriage window
2)princess park manor;Anya dancing on band stand close up shots to capture her facial expressions and wide shots to show her movement whilst dancing.
3)park; Anya and Taran holding hands, sitting on bench, chris then singing, whilst walking past them this is done at a wide shot to get all three characters in the shot

The dancing scenes of Anya is going to show that her relationship is going through her mind, I'm going to do this by using opacity editing, to find the relationship of them going in and out of her mind this will be happening whilst the main shot is still focusing on her dancing so it shoes her dance overrides her relationship with him.

Close up shots including;
Watch on wrist
Clock on the wall
Ballet shoes
Leads falling
Holding of the hands
Bulldog
Shoes walking

First time filming

Night shots on the 10th November 2013 at 6pm

The band stand where the main events happen, shows Anya the dancer as a dedicated dancer as she spends most of her time dancing and little time with her boyfriend as she finds it hard to balance her social life with her education. By videoing this scene it really shows how passionate she is about her sport, by using close up shots of her face I am able to capture her facial emotions.
Due to the lack of light in these shots I have had to reschedule to do them the following weak during the day as the evening was not supplying enouth light to caputrue a clear shot.

risk assessment

What is a risk assessment?

A risk assessment is a systematic process of evaluating the potential risks that may be involved in a projected activity or undertaking. These are very important as it will help you to ensure that if an accident occurs you would have assessed the risk and would try to prevent it as much as you can or reduce the damage.

location 1: Princess Park Manner

The risks I could come across here are there may be broken glass or empty bottle's, so a lot of litter. Also I may come across dog walkers, so their dog could become a risk to myself and my artist. to prevent this I would make sure no filming is to be done near the broke glass and no harmful dogs are near

When filming at princess park manner I came across broke glass and empty glass bottles, we avoided this as we had assessed this before getting there, so we where able to film in an area where there was no risks involved. I and the artist was approached by two dogs whilst filming, but we were able to bond with the dogs, so no harm was done.

Location 2: School Grounds

The risks I could come across here are that the surface could be wet enabling someone to fall over, as there is a combinations of both grass and leaves. Also the surface is at a tilt making this a higher risk as its harder to balance, on uneven ground.

when filming on the school grounds, we came across many problems as it was raining the day before, so the surface area was wet, so we encounter many near falls, fortunately we were able to then film on concrete surface, so our stability was stable.

The music video pitch

The Pitch

My music video will include two males and one female, the male and female are seen as a couple and the other male is singing. In the scenes the singer does not engage with the couple, as he is shown in the background observing their relationship.
The female is a dedicated dancer and she rarely has time to spend with her boyfriend, this causes strain on their relationship. This song really connects with the visual image as its saying you never made time which describes his feelings of her.

Story board

Many shots are of the nature around them, so shots of trees and to country side view.

Music video research

Ed Sheeren- give me love

How do the visually differentiate between verse and chorus?
Most of the action happens when the chorus sets in and in the verses they visually link each scene in with the chorus visuals, so the visuals in the verses lets the audience get an idea how it lead up to that action in the chorus.

How do they use the beat and rhythm in the visual style?
They use fast past editing the beat and rhythm become faster

How do they show case the star(s)?
The main character is shown throughout the video and the camera is always focused on her

How much do the visuals relate to the lyrics?
They relate a lot as the main star is cupid and the song title is give me love so creates that love flow as cupid and love link

What’s the overall concept?
That the star who is playing the cupid role isn’t receiving love herself so she is slowly dying.
